WORMITH, WIN – it is with great sadness that the family of WIN WORMITH (Durnford) announces the peaceful passing in her home September 30th, 2016. She was pre deceased by her beloved husband Don in 2002 and parents Richard and Flora Durnford of Sarnia. She is survived by her family, Stephen (Amilita Bayani) of Saskatoon, Marcia (Paul Volterman) of Hamilton, Paul (Beth Mitchell) of Sarnia. Grandson’s Michael Rottman (Heather Raven) of Toronto, Donnie Wormith of Saskatoon, and greatgrandchildren Max and Gemma Rottman of Toronto. She is also survived by her sister in-law Jeanne Parkin and family of Toronto. Win was born and raised in Sarnia in 1920, she attended SCITS high school where she excelled in track and field, then graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1942. As a home maker she was active in University Woman’s Club, IODE, Meals on Wheels, and the Stroke Recovery Association. Win was a two time breast cancer survivor. Her family interests and activities always came first in her life. She took great pride in building her last house in 1967 where she maintained her beautiful gardens. Win also took great pride in lending her name along with Marg White to the founding of Winmar which became a national restoration company with 94 locations across Canada all starting in Win’s garage in 1977.
Cremation has taken place and a family Celebration will be held at a later time. Any donations to the Heart and Stroke Recovery Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
