At Afton Park Place on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, WILLIAM LaVERNE SCARROW, age 83, of Sarnia, beloved husband for the past 63 years of Betty Bertha (Taylor) Scarrow. Dear father of Judith Anne Wilcocks and her husband Garry of Thedford, William Guy Scarrow of Petrolia, Roger Franklin Scarrow and his wife Doreen, Betty Jo Ingles and her husband John and Lynn Marie Scarrow all of Sarnia, Douglas Allan Scarrow and his wife Carol of Komoka, Howard David Scarrow of London, Susan Jane Manders and her husband Robert of Glencoe, Raymond Dean Scarrow and his wife Irene of Enniskillen Township and Daniel Ernest Scarrow of Wallaceburg. Dear brother of Frances Blain and her husband Arden of Sarnia. Also survived by several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by two brothers - Raymond and Robert, Mr. Scarrow was born at Point Edward and was a lifelong Sarnia area resident. He was retired in 1985 from C. N. Rail with 42 years of service. He was past president and a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association, Sarnia. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Scarrow proudly served with the Royal Canadian Navy as a gunner with the merchant marine. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. He adored children and was a devoted family man. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME on Friday, June 26 th. at 11:00 a.m. with the Venerable Dr. Gordon J. J. Simmons officiating. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Association for Community Living, Sarnia or Wallaceburg or the Charity of Choice (cheques only please).
