William "Bill" Barr

Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, December 1, 2023, William “Bill” Barr, age 88, passed away at Meadowview Villa Nursing Home – Petrolia, after a courageous battle with throat cancer. Loving devoted father to Michelle “Shelly” Bridges of Melvindale, Michigan, Lori Williams of Silver Springs, Florida, and Dondra Ergonis of Dearborn, Michigan. Cherished and loving brother of Charlotte Sterritt of Sarnia. Loving uncle of Bonnie Baas and Ronnie Barr and grandfather of Guy, Scott, Jenny, Nathan, Leslie and Katie and great grandfather of 14. Predeceased by his parents Stewart & Jean, sister Jane, brother Stewart “Duddy”, niece Charlene Young and Casper Baas.

Bill retired from Polysar after many years of service. In his younger years he was a member of the original Beaver’s Lacrosse Team and was a star lacrosse player. In 1978 Bill lead the Pacer Canadian Junior B Team to a championship in Montreal. Also, Bill was an avid golfer and loved all sports and music.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, personal support workers and staff at Meadowview Villa for the care that Bill received while in their care. And a special thank you to Dr. Buckton.  Private cremation arrangements have taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
