Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at home on Sunday August 29, 2021, WILFRED SPIVEY passed away at the age of 92 yrs. Beloved husband to Georgina (Fielder) of 66 yrs. Loving father of Murray (Dianne) Spivey, Paul Spivey, Debbie (Greg) Bramham and Carol (Chuck) Chrapko. Cherished grandfather of Craig (Lindsay) Spivey, Andria (Tim) Clayfield, Shannon (Brian) Duquette, Ron (Vjollca) Bramham, Michael (Heather) Bramham, Christopher (Christine) Bramham, Taylor (Patrick) Dennis and John Chrapko. Great-grandpa will be lovingly remembered by his ‘little ones’, Carter and Blake Spivey; Illyria, Quorra and Inara Clayfield; Kaylan, Treston and Aiden Duquette; Adriana and Serena Bramham; Kesler and Myles Bramham, Dennis twins expected soon. Brother of Jim (late Aldeen) Spivey. Will be missed by several brothers-in-law, sisters in-law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Jim and Lillian Spivey and brother John (Margaret) Spivey and in-laws John and Margaret Fielder.
Wilfred was a dedicated teacher and vice principal beginning in a one room schoolhouse in Morris Township. Moving to Point Edward in 1954 teaching at Edward Street School then long-time vice principal at Bridgeview School, retiring in 1984 from Colborne Street School Corunna. Upon his retirement he worked as a starter at Huron Oaks Golf Course for 16 years enjoying chatting with the members. Wilfred was an active member of the Point Edward Community serving as long time elder and clerk of session at Point Edward United Church. Wilfred was a valued member of the Point Edward Minor Athletic Association spending many years as referee in chief, umpiring, coaching many sports, and assisting the figure skating club. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Friday September 3rd at 2:00 pm with interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until time of service. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Joseph’s Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
