Wes McMahen

September 5, 1921 — December 30, 2011

WES McMAHEN - Beloved husband of Leone McMahen for 68 years as of Oct. 2nd died suddenly on December 30th, 2011 at the age of 90. Wes & Leone moved Sept. 20th to a couples suite in Paris, to be near the family. We are thankful that the two of them were able to be together in the last weeks of Leone's life, especially for their 68th Anniversary, after spending months separated while she was in the hospital. We are also thankful Wes could see his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren frequently after Leone died. Wes is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sandy (& Bill Fraser) (Brantford), plus their children, Shona (& Chris Dezell) (Princeton) & Cam Fraser (Woodstock). He was a beloved Dad to his son, Dave (& Laurie Soutar McMahen) (Gobles) & their children, Alana (in Victoria, B.C.) & Russ McMahen (Woodstock), plus step-grandsons, Dustin & Jason Soutar & his daughter Caitlin. Wes was also much loved Great Grandpa to Dillon Fraser, and Ethan & Spencer Dezell. He was a special uncle to his late sister, Esther Fulcher's children: Janet (& Clare Love), Jack Fulcher & Jill Fulcher, (Sarnia), Maureen (& Larry O'Neill) (Petrolia), Bill Fulcher (Corunna), and Paul Fulcher (& Yeon-Ja) (Alberta) - also to his late sister, Fran Taylor's children, Heather Hutchin (Waterloo), Becky (& Harry Tanner) and Grey (& Margie Taylor), (Toronto). Wes was a computer programmer at Imperial Oil in Sarnia before being moved to the Head Office in Toronto. They returned to Sarnia after retiring, and lived on Front St overlooking the river before moving to the Sandpiper Apartment 8 years ago. They were members of Devine Street and later St. Paul's United Churches, and were greatly admired for setting an example of an amazing marriage! A Memorial stone is under the Bluewater Bridge - Wes & Leone's favourite spot to watch the boats & see the bridge Leone's Dad helped build. He was there when the spans were joined. A Celebration of Wes's life will be held at Kingdom Life Assembly Church in Harley, ON - Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. (www.kingdomlifeassembly.com)
