Susan Chong

CHONG, SUSAN – Surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Thursday, October 4, 2018, Susan (Mark) Chong, age 85 of Sarnia passed away. She was the loving wife of the late William Logie Chong (1994) and dear mother of William Chong Jr. and his wife Johanne, Darrell Chong, Sharon Davies and her husband Dr. Brian Davies, grandmother of Melissa Chong (Matthew Lorbetski), Matthew Chong (Marissa Lewington)), Connor Davies (Brooke Clubb) and Jasmine Davies (Billy O’Mahony Jr.), great-grandmother of Lucas and Ethan Lorbetski, Tess Chong and lovingly anticipated Miller Davies (January 2019). She is survived by her sister Helen (Drew Magor), her brother William (Doreen) and her sister in law Gretta Mark. She was predeceased by her infant brother George, her brother David and her sister Maria. Susan fled communist China in 1949 and made Canada her new and much loved home. She was a longtime member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. She was involved in numerous volunteer activities including SMAA, the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic, I.O.D.E. and was also named to the Mayor’s Honour’s List in 1993. She was an avid fan of the Maple Leafs and Argos and a loud, vocal and opinionated cheerleader for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sporting interests and activities. Friends may visit at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9) on Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 261 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Susan to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
