Robert Allan Duncan

Peacefully at Marshall Gowland Manor Nursing home on Sunday December 22, 2019 ROBERT ALLAN DUNCAN passed away at the age of 82 years.  Beloved husband of the late Wilma “Jean” Duncan (2016).  Loving father of Danny (Sue) Duncan, Deana (Claude) Lachapelle and Lynda O’Grady.  Cherished grandfather to Becky (Sean) Selman, Ryan Duncan, Rob Lachapelle, Chantal Lachapelle, Danielle Lachapelle, Adam O’Grady, Jacob O’Grady and great-grandfather to Lucas and Reid Selman.  Dear brother of Sharon (Darryl) Thompson.  Predeceased by his siblings Ronald, George, Carolyn and Aileen.  Bob came from a farming life in Petrolia and went into working at Duncan Cranes, a company that was started by his father. Duncan Cranes then merged into Sarnia Cranes.  In his late teens he met his wife Jean at a dime store, who turned him down twice before agreeing to go on a date. They were married May 4, 1957. Three kids, 7 grandkids, 2 great grandkids later; they lived happily in Sarnia for 58 years.  Bob was a member of the local 793 Hoisting Engineers Sarnia for over 60 years. He worked in the crane rental business in chemical valley for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Point Edward Service club for 60 years.  He enjoyed horses, playing cards with his grandsons, fishing up at the cottage and golfing whenever he had a chance. His pride and joy were his grandkids, his dog Beau and his red truck. He lived out his last few years in Marshall Gowland Nursing home being cared for by the wonderful nursing staff where he played his guitar and enjoyed the company.  Cremation has taken place and a gathering for family and friends will be held at the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE on Monday December 30th from the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice.  Memories, photos or messages of condolence may be shared at www.djrobb.on.ca
