Robert William Chalmers

CHALMERS ROBERT, WILLIAM – Robert William Chalmers at the age of 87 passed away peacefully on January 4, 2019 with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer. Loving husband of 53 years to the late Meredith (Foubister) Chalmers (2006). He is the son of the late Cameron and Hilda (Burns) Chalmers. He is survived by his daughters Dianne Gilbert (Doug) of Courtright, Darlene Gilbert (Bill Thrower) of Watford and Linda Taylor (Dwayne) of Sarnia and a son Rob Chalmers of Sarnia. He was “Gramps” to Chris and Ron Scott, RuthAnn, Kevin and Shawn Lumley, Kortnee Smith, Jillian Lumley-Gilbert and Rob and Justin Taylor. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Marie Turner and Gertrude Portiss and Brothers Jim, Harvey, Jack, Donald and Norman. Also predeceased by son-in-law Donald Gilbert (2003) and great-great granddaughter Hailey Stocum (2013). He retired from Fiberglass Canada after 37 years of service. He enjoyed camping and all the friends he made during his years at Mooretown Campground.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at 10am at D. J. Robb Funeral home & Cremation Center (102 Victoria St. Sarnia N7T 5W9) interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends and family may Visit on Tuesday January 8, 2019 from the hours of 2-4 pm and 7-9pm and again Wednesday at 9am until service time.

Memorial donations made to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
