Robert "Gary" Armstrong

Armstrong,  Robert “Gary” – Peacefully with his family by his side at Bluewater Health – Petrolia Site on Sunday, June 11, 2023,  Robert “Gary” Armstrong passed away at the age of 86. Loving husband of 60 years to Cheryl Armstrong (nee Hollands). Dear father of Bonnie Rosema (Tim) and Sharon Mahoney (Chris) and the late Jennifer Armstrong who passed away in 1985. Will be missed by his grandchildren; Nicole, Danielle, Meghan, Molly, Mia. Predeceased by his grandson  Mark Rosema (2006). Also missed by his great grandchildren; Payton and Evelyn. Survived by his oldest sister Dorothy McCormick (Lloyd 2013) and his sister in-law Anne (Calvin 2017). Predeceased by his other siblings; Gord (Laura), Gert (Mel), Fern (Tom), Betty (Al), Loretta, Lloyd and his parents Everest and Alta Armstrong.  Fondly, remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gary grew up on the family farm and worked at Holmes Foundry and was a talented carpenter. Everyone that knew Gary enjoyed his humour and quick wit. Gary was a relatively quiet man, but the love in his eyes, the warmth of his embrace, and the selflessness of his actions spoke volumes of his love.

 A funeral service will be held at the D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 Victoria Street, Sarnia, ON N7T 5W9) on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with family and friends being received from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Cremation will follow with inurnment at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Sarnia Humane Society (www.sarniahumanesociety.com). Memories, messages of condolence or photographs may be shared through www.djrobb.on.ca
