It is with grieving hearts we announce the passing of Richard Brock Wellington, surrounded by his family at Bluewater Health Sarnia. Born in Barranca Bermeja, Colombia, Rick was the sixth child of the late Fred Wellington and Bertha (Lewis) Wellington, both of Corunna. His father, Fred, began his career in the oil business at Imperial Oil and was transferred to Colombia, where Rick was raised until high school. The family then moved to Panama City, Panama and Rick completed high school in the Panama Canal Zone at the Balboa High School. Voted first runner up Most Attractive at Balboa High School Class of 1968, Rick would further his education at the Southwestern Louisiana University and Canal Zone Junior College amongst other academic achievements. Rick was adventurous in nature, and a talented musician playing both guitar and the organ. Rick rarely missed a Blue Jays game and thoroughly enjoyed the music of The Rolling Stones. He spent the majority of his working life as a miner in Timmins, Ontario for Kidd Creek Mines Ltd. Rick was the beloved father of Derek and Andrew Wellington, and pre-deceased by his son Joe Wellington. Rick will be the dearly missed youngest sibling of Ann Alexander, Bob Wellington, Lynne Frauenheim, Don Wellington and Jane Lawyer. Rick had many grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he adored. Rick was a treasured friend, and will be missed by his long-term companion Faye Welch; as well as her family who he loved like his own. Rick will be fondly remembered for his gift of gab and his sense of humour. Arrangements entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria St, Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9.
