Rhoda Gertrude Pringle Gaspar

GASPAR, Rhoda Gertrude Pringle - It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at the age of 88, but are comforted in knowing that she is now in the arms of her Lord and Saviour. 

Rhoda was born in Williamsburg, New Brunswick, the daughter of Arthur and Grace (Bennett) Clarkson and is predeceased by her parents, older sister Katherine (E. Cleveland Wilson) and, in 2010, her oldest son Michael (Maureen O’Connell).  She was the loving wife of Noel John Gaspar for 66 years, beloved mother of Christopher (Janice Vegh) and Ruth Ann (Jason Fiorotto) and dear sister to Natalie DeMarce of Brandon, MB.  Rhoda was adored by her grandchildren Julianna (Graham Russell), Connor, Liam and Kate, and many nieces and nephews. 

Rhoda graduated in 1956 from the Victoria Public Hospital (VPH) School of Nursing in Fredericton, NB as a Registered Nurse.  After working in the Nursery of VPH for two years, she and Noel moved to Sarnia in 1958.  She chose to change her career to become a homemaker and raise her family.  She was always available for advice and expertise as “the neighbourhood nurse”.  Rhoda was an active member of Trinity Anglican Church and loved her church family.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, January 18th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria Street, Sarnia).  A funeral to celebrate Rhoda’s life will be held on Thursday, January 19th at 11:00 am at Trinity Anglican Church, 1194 Murphy Road in Sarnia and will also be livestreamed at https://youtu.be/WS5P3smHmzc .  A second visitation will take place prior to the service at 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Our Daily Bread Ministries Canada https://ourdailybread.ca or The Inn of the Good Shepherd https://www.theinnsarnia.ca. The family would like to thank the staff in Surgery and the ICU at Bluewater Health for the care they provided during Rhoda’s brief time there.  In addition, we would like to thank Dr. M. Withers for many years of exceptional care.
