PROULX, RENE EDMOND - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a good man. At Bluewater Health - Norman Site Continuing Care Unit, RENE EDMOND PROULX passed from this life on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the tremendous age of 91. He will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Patricia and her husband Kevin Guest, his beloved granddaughter Anna and Amanda & Chris, Aselin, Amber, Andrea & Shawn and Andrew all of Sarnia and his son Bob and much loved daughter-in-law Marion and his dear grandchildren Eric and Emily all living in Charlotte, NC. He leaves us to reunite in heaven with his wife Eileen (Estabrook) (1989). Rene was born to a true pioneer family. He was born in Nobel, ON in a tent in 1917 and lived in Smooth Rock Falls before the family moved on to homestead in Kapuskasing, ON. He spent a hard working and fulfilling life with his father Rene (1965) and mother Victoria (Lachapelle) (1945), 2 brothers and 5 sisters until moving to Sarnia in 1939. He worked most of his career at Silverwood's Dairies and retired from Lambton County School Board in 1982. He was a quiet and steadfast man who was quick to help anyone. He is also survived by his sisters Rose (Marcel) Champagne, Aurore (Ron) Cruikshanks, Lucille (Lyle) Campbell and Laurette (late Bill) Yakitchuk and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Colombe (1985) and brothers Albert (2003) and Paul (1999). He leaves behind good friends Joe and Shirley Latham of Sarnia and Armande Ward of Thunder Bay and his beloved cat Scoobie Doo. Funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 332 Devine Street, on Thursday, March 5th at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 11:30 am until time of service. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Paul's Anglican Church, Erieau, P.O. Box 1812, Blenheim, ON N0P 1A0, or the Sarnia Humane Society would be appreciated (cheques only please). Arrangements entrusted to the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME .
