PHILIPPE GASTON EMILE DEVINGT peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on October 28th. Born in Lillebonne, France he immigrated to Canada in 1967. Phil was proud to be a Canadian but never lost his devotion for his beloved France. He was employed at Imperial Oil in Sarnia from 1978 to 1999, retiring at age 55. He spent his retirement years happily restoring French Citroens, showing them all over the United States and Canada. He won many trophies and awards. Philippe was an avid bowler with both the City League and the Imperial Oil Retirees League. Phil was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sarnia and will always be remembered for his sense of humour, optimism, willingness to help others and his “joie de vivre”. Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church (429 Indian Rd. N., Sarnia) with Dr. Roger C. Ellis officiating on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11:00 am. Friends will be received at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery where Phil chose to be buried so that he could keep an eye on his buddies at Tim Hortons on Colborne Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or Children’s Hospital-London Health Sciences Centre. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Memories and messages of condolence may be sent through www.djrobb.on.ca
