Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 10, 2014, PHILEMON ARLIE BIRD age 79 of Aamjiwnaang went to his Heavenly Mansion to be with his Lord and Savior . Much loved husband of Geneva. Will be greatly missed by his children Valerie (Bob), Byron (Jessica), Kevin, Karen Ann , David, Gary, Phil Jr., Paul (Saundra) and step father of Selena, Stacey, Delbert, Jeremiah (Amanda). And by his many close friends in the Native Communities . Very proud Papa of 25 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Brother of Norma, Jo, Linda, Irene, Barry. Predeceased by his parents Alex and Eleanor Bird, and siblings twin brother Ray, Larry and Bill. Phil took a very active role in the church, loved blessing others by singing his Ojibwe songs, and enjoyed traveling. The family will receive friends at the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at ST. CLAIR UNITED CHURCH on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation taking place one hour prior to service time. Interment to follow at Aamjiwnaang First Nation Cemetery officiated by Rev. Doyle Perry of Mount Pleasant Michigan. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Lung Association or Victorious Faith Fellowship.
