NETTIE (MARY ANNETTE) SOKOL In her 85th year, died suddenly on March 12th, 2014. Predeceased by her husband, Andy (1991). Mother of Paul (Jane), Jim (Kathy), Carol (Dan) Haight and Jane (Grant) Kennedy. Grandmother of Katie, Julie and Jennie Sokol; Jessica, Andrew and Ben Sokol; Michael and Heather Haight and Garrett and Owen Kennedy. Sister of Betty (2012), Eddie (1980), Bob and Eric (Red) Graham. Daughter of Jennie and Sam Graham. "Aunt Nettie" to a couple dozen nieces and nephews. Nettie was a proud, life-long resident of Point Edward. She led a full life. For 65 years she was a member of the Point Edward United Church Choir. She was one of the few who walked across both the Bluewater Bridges when they opened in 1938 and 1997. Nettie would fondly recall the days she worked as a maid on the passenger ships the Hamonic and the Noronic. She always enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Nettie loved nothing better than to sit under the bridge and watch the boat traffic go by. Since the 1940's she was a regular summer visitor to McCarrell's Lake and Camp Wakonda near Sault Ste. Marie. But most of all Nettie loved her family. She rarely missed a game or school event of her grandchildren. Nettie insisted on hosting all holidays and family get togethers. Her house was the hub of the family and a favourite spot to drop in for a coffee. Nettie will be missed by all. There will be a private family burial. A Memorial Service to celebrate Nettie's life will be held at the Point Edward Community Hall on Monday, March 24th (luncheon) at 1:00 pm. All are invited. Sympathy may be expressed by a donation to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Point Edward Fire Dept for their assistance. Arrangements entrusted to the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE.
