Nellie Philpott

PHILPOTT, NELLIE MARGARET (KENNEY) - Peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on Monday, October 4, 2010 in her 87th year. Nellie has lived in Sarnia for 60 years and was devoted to her family and many friends. She volunteered her time to many organizations such as Community Living for 38 years where she taught sewing, organized day outings, camp weekends and dances, Meals on Wheels for 45 years which she thought was a great way to meet new people and help seniors, Minor Softball Association, Marshall Gowland Manor, St. James Anglican Church and Scout Canada, to name just a few. Predeceased by her loving husband Simon (2005) and son Allan (2001). Survived by her sons Ken and Don and daughter Patti, grandchildren Becky & Kevin Hudson, Gordon & Shannon, Tim & Amber, Brad & Sabrina, Travis & Nicki, Darcy, Michelle & Francisco Font and Bryan & Lauren and great grandchildren Jack, Gavin, Easton and Ben and her special é¢a‚A"adopted soné¢a‚ Ken Link and his wife Peggy. Longtime companion of Frank Colby. Also survived by her dear sister Beatrice, and many nieces and nephews living in Western Canada. Predeceased by brothers Ralph, Ollie, Lorne and sister Eileen and their parents Norman and May Kenney. Special thanks to the é¢a‚A"Girlsé¢a‚ at the office, Pam, Gail, Linda and Norma, Dr. Ian Campbell and the VON nurses and personal support workers for the loving care of our mother. And her many dear friends who have supported her especially in this last year. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Friday, October 8th at 1:00 pm. Cremation will follow. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7:00 -9:00 pm and Thursday afternoon and evening from 2:00 -4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living - Sarnia and Inn of the Good Shepherd would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolence may be sent through djrobbfh@ebtech.net.
