Nellie Palmer

PALMER, NELLIE ELAINE - Died in her sleep at Bluewater Health after a brief illness on July 5, 2009, at the age of 87 years. Pre-deceased by her parents Harriett Vaughan (1946) and Albert Edward Palmer (1971) and a brother Edward (1913). Survived by several cousins, including Betty Kersey of Sarnia, and many second cousins, including her caregiver of many years Wendy Flavell. A gifted pianist, Nellie earned her piano performance degree from the University of Toronto in 1943. She returned to Sarnia to care for her ailing mother and went on to teach piano to generations of children and work at Mundy's Hardware Store. Nellie was a member of Canon Davis Memorial Anglican Church and a past member of the Chancel Guild. Nellie has been cremated and there will be a graveside service officiated by the Ven. Dr. Gordon Simmons at Lakeview Cemetery on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Sarnia Humane Society (cheques only please).
