Mary Lou Irene Brown (nee Vaughan) passed away peacefully at the London Health Sciences Centre – Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the age of 89. She is now reunited with her husband Marshall Bernard Brown who passed away in 1997. Cherished mother to Pam (Paul) Tolley, Nancy Brown, Ken (Jeni) Brown, Cathy, and David Brown.
She is preceded in death by her grandson Aaron and will also be missed by her 10 other grandchildren and their families, Sean (Pam), Krista (Justin), Lauren (Brendan), Joshua, Naomi (Ryan), Caleb (Aika), Simeon, Stephanie, Brandon, and Brittany. She leaves behind 9 wonderful great grandchildren.
Mom was born in Chatham, NB and grew up in the Port Stanley area where she met and married Bernard in 1953. They built their family together starting in Port Stanley and then moving to London to be closer to Bernards work. She later also lived in Whitby and Sarnia.
Shortly before passing, Mary Lou said how proud she was of all her children and had the opportunity to connect with each of them in her last few days.
The family were early members of the St Thomas and London branches of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she made good friends. In her later years she was particularly fond of crafts and enjoyed sitting in her yard watching nature. These activities brought her much joy.
A service to honor Mary Lou will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1400 Murphy Road, Sarnia, Ontario N7S 5P6) There will be a viewing for family and friends from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Church. Entombment will take place at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens (21 Garrard Road, Whitby, Ontario L1N 3K4) on Friday, March 1, at 2:00pm.
