Mark "Varmit" Nickels

The family sadly announces the sudden passing of Mark “Varmit” Nickels, (1952 - 2022) age 69 of Sarnia at Bluewater Health on Monday, January 17, 2022. He was the loving husband of Mary Lou (Pyette) Nickels, dear father of Shayne Nickels (Gloria), Ian Nickels (Laura), Deanna Hardy (Jonathon), grandfather of Barclay, Jazmin, Nicole, Brooke and great-grandfather of Amelia, brother of Dennis, Dean, Lynne, Dixie and Todd, brother in law of Joella Nickels and Kath Mills. He will also be missed by John Daly (Diane), Jenny Flumerfelt (Tom), Ed Daly (Peggy), Dan Daly (Sandy) and Nora Penhale (Kevin). He was predeceased by brothers Fred (1979), Bill (2007) and sisters Debbie (1999), Marie (2000) and Lori (2013). Mark had retired from Imperial Oil Ltd. after 33 years of service. He was a founding member of the Bluewater Chevy Club, was a member of the Canadian Corps and the Royal Canadian Legion, BR #62 where he enjoyed working in the kitchen with Al and other members. Mark and Mary Lou enjoyed many winters away with Ilderton Tours and many summers in the Mooretown Campground. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts to the Sarnia Humane Society through www.sarniahumanesociety.com would be appreciated. A memorial gathering will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 22, 2022 between the hours of 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the room is limited to 50 people at any one time and will be regulated at the entrance. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a later date. A special thanks to Dr. Lilly and the Palliative Care Team at Bluewater Health. Private family cremation has been entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N.
