Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia, on Wednesday September 5, 2018 Marion H. Bradley (nee Spencer) passed at the age of 94 yrs. Born in Sarnia, she attended Sarnia Collegiate & Technical School.
Predeceased by husband Donald W. Quinn and Ross L Bradley, parents Thomas and Winifred Spencer, brothers Raymond, Russell and George Spencer and stepson Timothy Bradley. Survived by son Gregory Quinn, stepsons Edward, William, Christopher, sister Doris (Jim) Brown, Wallaceburg, Shirley (Douglas) Frew, Sarnia, sister-in-Law Carol Spencer, Watford, grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In 1943, she joined the Women's Royal Canadian Service as a Captain's Writer stationed at HMCS Stadacona in Halifax during World War ll. Following her discharge in February 1946, she worked at Canadian Synthetic Rubber Limited (co-Polymer) and Ethyl Canada lnc. where she retíred after 32 1/2 years of service. Active in the Boy Scouts Association, Girl Guides of Canada, Akela of a Cub Pack, Brownie Leader in Halifax and Member of Trefoil Girl Guides of Canada. She was a Charter Member and Chairman of the Sarnia Branch of the Administrative Assistants for 3 years. Secretary for 13 years of the Lambton Section of the lndustrial Accident Prevention Association of Ontario. Honourary Life Member of the lndustrial Accident Prevention Association of Ontario. She was on Sarnia Chapter of ALS. Associate Member of Clearwater, Florida WAVES. Member of Atlantic Chiefs and P.O.’s Association. Member of Wren Association of Toronto. Life Member of Branch 62 Royal Canadian Legion. Life Member of Sarnia Branch Royal Canadian Naval Association and held many positions within the RCNA and held many awards. Served for HMCS Kincardine, Esquimalt, Petrolia, Orangeville, Goderich, Skeena and HMCS Ottawa ll. Recipient of Harry Dawson Award for Area VP for Canada in 1990 and 2005. On Mayor’s Honour Role 1995. Recipient of Queen's Jubilee Medal in 2OO2. Recipient of the Diamond Jubilee Award 2015. Marion was a very caring, generous, loving and accomplished woman who will be dearly missed. The family wishes to express their gratitude to her friends for their kindness and loving care during these past years and to St. Joseph’s Hospice over this past week.
Resting at the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE where services will be held on Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from the hours of 7 to 9 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the St. Joseph’s Hospice. Family flowers only please.
