Marguerite Fysh

Mrs. Janet Margaret Sutherland (Hastings) Fysh, age 90 of Sarnia, Ontario, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. "Marguerite", as she was known by her friends, was born in Sarnia on January 30, 1923 and after graduating with a Secretarial Science degree from Alma College, started work in Toronto and then Imperial Engineering in Sarnia. Marguerite will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years Frederick Fysh, daughter Tracey Bisson and son Mark (Lynn) and grandson Preston Fysh; sisters-in-law, Sally Hastings of Toronto, Audrey Laughy of Grande Prairie, Alberta and Phyllis Fysh of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and nieces Jennifer (Kevan) Kristjansen of Toronto and France, Laurie (James) Eustace and family of Edmonton, Leslie (Evan) Tait and family of Inglis, Manitoba and nephews John (Kelly) Hastings and family of Toronto and Greg (Barb) Fysh and family of Moose Jaw. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Hastings, parents-in-law Leonard and Mabel Fysh, a brother, Rae Hastings, a sister-in-law Doris Fysh and brother-in-law, Robert Fysh. Marguerite devoted much of her life as waterfront swimming director, helping direct a CGIT group at St. Paul's United Church in Sarnia, Alma College Board and Alumni activities, and in music in church choir and Polysar Glee Club. A celebration of Marguerite's life will be held at St. Paul's United Church (Devine and Emma St., Sarnia) on Tuesday, January 7th at 11:00 am. Private committal services will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts to the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
