Margaret Jean Niles

Margaret Jean Niles passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023 at Sumac Lodge at the age of 97.  Beloved wife of the late Lorne Niles (2012).

Jean was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who is survived by her 3 children Chris, Gail and Laurie Niles.  Three grandchildren Heather Slager, Jessie Niles and Nathan Niles.  Great grandchildren Noah Cabral, Brooklyn, Jack and Kate Niles.

Jean joined the Women’s Army Navy Air Force (WANA), Branch 515 of the Royal Canadian Legion in 1950 as a Charter Member and served as the Branch President for six different terms.  Branch 515 closed after 50 years service in 2000 and Jean transferred to Branch 62 where Jean had more than 72 years of Legion service at the time of her passing.  Jean was elected as Zone Commander from 1966 to 1968 where she worked with the twelve Branches in Lambton County.  Jean also served many terms as an Executive Committee member for Branch 515, Branch 62 and the Zone in many capacities.

Jean was a wonderful Legion member, who was there for whoever needed her assistance, there for our Veterans and there for the Royal Canadian Legion.

Jean has left us but she will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place in keeping with Jean’s wishes, no services will be held.
