Margaret Elizabeth Anderson

ANDERSON, MARGARET ELIZABETH (nee HUDSON) - Peacefully in her sleep at St. Joseph's Hospice, Margaret Elizabeth Anderson lost her valiant fight against pancreatic cancer at age 85. Margaret was the cherished wife of the late Dr. Norman Anderson; devoted mother of Patricia Roy and John Anderson and wife Patricia. Proud grandmother to Leanne Roy and partner Johnathan. Daughter of the late Eric and Evelyn Hudson, deeply loved big sister of Dorothy Jane (Hudson) Zajac and husband Andy, and the late John Hudson. Loving sister-in-law of Marjorie (Anderson) Hollands and husband Howard. Much loved aunt to many nieces and nephews to whom she brought much joy and sage advice. Margaret was born in Toronto on July 24, 1929. She attended Franklin P.S. and Jarvis Collegiate where she excelled in math and sciences. Margaret was a very talented woman who graduated with honours from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Physical Education and a Masters Degree in Education from Wayne State University (Michigan). She also obtained her ACTM in piano and organ, and used these talents as the highlights of many sing-songs (camps) and as organist at Grace United Church (Sarnia). Margaret had varied work careers - Physical Education teacher at Simcoe High School (Simcoe, Ont); receptionist at her husband's dental office (Dr. Norman Anderson); radio talk show host at CHOK in Sarnia; psychometrist and social worker at the Sarnia - Lambton Centre for Children and Youth. She also ran the Center's Summer Camps (as well as C.G.I.T. camps) where she influenced both staff and children's lives. At 60 years, she became "Sparkle" the clown and brightened up many lives at hospitals and churches. Her volunteer work continued with C.G.I.T. groups, A.C.L.D. chapters, and the New Kids on the Block puppet group that travelled around to schools teaching students how to deal with many problems. For 33 years, Margaret followed her love of the outdoors by going on exciting wilderness adventure trips with her sister and best friends - ("The Crazy Ladies"). Upon retirements, she and Norm bought a cottage in Muskoka (Sentimental Journey) where they lived for 6 months of the year until 2006. After Norm passed away in 2009, she continued her volunteer work at the hospital and church until her health made this impossible in April, 2015. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Margaret's life will take place at GRACE UNITED CHURCH in Sarnia on Saturday July 11, 2015 at 1:00pm (990 Cathcart Blvd, Sarnia). The family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers of St. Joseph's Hospice for their wonderful care they gave to Margaret during her stay.
