LYLE FRANKLIN JAMES, DFC, born 27 February 1917 in Sarnia, passed away peacefully on 7 May 2010 surrounded by his family at Bluewater Health after a short illness. Beloved husband and best friend of Gladys James, n郩e Moore. Cherished father of Marilyn Fleet of London; Carole James-Airey and her husband, Winston John; and Collin James and his wife, Sandy. Grandfather of Peg Lockridge and her husband Jeff; Rob Fleet and his wife Tracy; Jay Fleet and his wife, Teri; Jeff Fleet and his wife, Denise; Cavin Morton; Collin Morton; and Melanie James; as well as several great- and great-great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Margaret Kemsley of Arnprior. Predeceased by his parents, Harry and Lenna James; his infant son, Lyle Franklin é¢a‚A"Buddyé¢a‚ James, on 7 May 1952; his grandson, Christopher Lyle James, on 25 April 1992; his mother-in-law, Matilda é¢a‚A"Tilleyé¢a‚ Moore, in 1997, his brothers, Fred, in 1991, and George, in 1988, his sister Anne Harris, in 1988, as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law. Lyle served as a Lancaster pilot during World War II in 101 Squadron, Bomber Command, Royal Air Force, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for bravery under fire on numerous occasions. He was a life-long member of the Anglican Diocese of Huron, and he was a faithful member of St George's Church. He spent his entire life helping others within the community. He was the president and founding partner of James & Carter Automotive from 1958 until 1982, and was a highly respected businessman in the Sarnia business community. Brother James was a life member of Liberty Masonic Lodge No. 419 A.F. & A.M. and was the recipient of the Wilson Mercer Wilson Award in 2001. He was also a member of many York Rite & Scottish Rite bodies as well as the Shrine. ALL VISITATIONS AND THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE CONDUCTED AT ST. GEORGE'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, located on Vidal St N at Charlotte, the Ven. James Dugan officiating. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held under the auspices of Liberty Lodge No. 419 on Monday at 6:40 p.m. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. The funeral service will take place beginning at 11:00 a.m. with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations made by cheque to St George's Accessibility Fund or to the Masonic Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the D. J.
