Lois worked for many years as an Executive Secretary at Polysar, where she met her husband. She retired from Dow Chemical in the late 1980’s. She loved her home and her favorite past-time was finding a “gem” at either the Dollar Store or a thrift store. She loved having visitors stop by for a cup of coffee or tea, and she would haul out her latest find to serve a plate of goodies. She was blessed to have both old and new friends stop by frequently.
Lois was not fond of travelling, preferring to stay close to home. So, it was ironic when her husband’s job at Polysar required the family to pull up stakes and relocate to Fribourg, Switzerland for 5 years with their three children ages 10, 6, and 2. For someone who was content to stay at home, she ended up becoming quite the traveler as the family toured around Europe during their time overseas.
As her health started to decline, she still remained relatively independent, living in her own apartment up until 5 months before her death. Her favorite pastime was visiting with family and friends, sitting in her recliner with her beloved cats Jack and Jessica on her lap – she had a lifelong passion for animals.
She loved to discuss the Bible. She was so looking forward to seeing her faith become sight and being reunited with loved ones who have gone on before. Lois is most assuredly joyful in the presence of the One she worshipped her entire life – Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will take place at Huron Baptist Church, 1285 Michigan Ave, Sarnia on Friday, November 10, 22023, at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Benn officiating, followed by a reception at the church. Family and friends wishing to attend are most welcome. A private family interment in Lakeview Cemetery will take place prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please spend time with a senior or elderly person. It was so important to Lois to have people call or stop by for a visit.
Lois loved the church and her church family. She was a member of Huron Baptist Church. Should you wish, a donation in Lois’s memory to Huron Baptist Church, the Sarnia Humane Society, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St, Sarnia, ON N7T 5W9). Memories and messages of condolences may be sent through www.djrobb.on.ca
