June Marie Gilbert

GILBERT, June Marie (Thompson) – It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of June Marie (nee Thompson) Gilbert, age 76 of Sarnia at Afton Park Place Nursing Home on Friday, May 8, 2020 after a valiant fight with cancer. She was the loving wife of the late William George Stavely Gilbert (2018) also predeceased by her parents Rev. Vernon G and Hazel (nee Kilmer) Thompson and sister Linda May Thompson. Will be forever missed by her daughter Deborah Gilbert – Willsie and her husband Jack and their son James Willsie (Leah) and grandchildren Dom and Ken. Also will be missed by her sister Deborah Marie LaCarte, as well many nieces, nephews and by many extended family members from Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Mom was a member of Colfax # 28 Rebekah Lodge and Associate member of Starlight Rebekah Lodge # 344 and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Victory Chapter # 50.Mom worked as a legal secretary at the foot of Ferry Dock Hill. She used to sing solos for funerals. Mom volunteered her time for many organizations in Sarnia. She loved the Lord and gave to the hungry, the thirsty, helped the sick and took in Missionaries from other countries. Her motto in life was “To love the Lord, your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbors as yourself” “Mathew 22:37 – 39”. Private family interment has taken place at Lakeview Cemetery. A Celebration of Mom’s Life will be held at Lakeshore Community Church in Bright’s Grove (2815 Old Lakeshore Road, Bright's Grove, ON) on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Canadian Cancer Society or the Sarnia and District Humane Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the D. J.
