Joyce Strevel

Peacefully, at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, JOYCE GERTRUDE (MONTAGUE) STREVEL, age 87, beloved wife of 60 years to the late George Strevel (2003). Dear mother of David (Jeannette) Strevel, grandmother of Michael (Michelle) Banik, John (Elizabeth) Strevel, Kristina (John) Pauls and Daniel Strevel and great grandmother of Abigail and Caleb Pauls and Chloe Banik. Sister of Muriel Rolfe and Grace Nixon. Mother in law of Ed Banik. She was predeceased by her daughter Lynda Banik and brothers Doug and David Montague. Born September 8, 1923 in Chatham, Ontario, Joyce was an active member of Bethel Pentecostal Church and was a very involved volunteer in many organizations including the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, St. John's Ambulance and Sarnia General Hospital. She received the Governor General Canadian Caring Award in 1999 for 35 years of extraordinary service at the Sarnia General Hospital. Joyce was a very kind, generous, outgoing person and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Friday, October 8th at 11:00 am followed by a light luncheon at Bethel Pentecostal Church. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family (cheques only please). Messages of condolence may be sent to family through djrobbfh@ebtech.net
