John Widner

WIDNER, JOHN GARFIELD (JACK) March 8th, 1929 - Jan.8th 2010 With great sadness, we announce that Dad passed away Jan. 8th 2010. Dad was born on March 8th 1929, to Lillian and Frank Widner, in Sarnia Ontario. Dad joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1947, and left Sarnia to be stationed in Esquimalt B.C. He was a wonderful Musician, playing the bass trombone for many years in the Naden Band. Dad retired from the Navy after 20 years and returned to Sarnia, eventually working in security for the Ethyl Plant near Courtright. He was predeceased by his loving second wife Maxine,(his childhood sweetheart) brother Billy, and grandson Stephen. Survived by first wife Kathleen Stanley,children Chris (Cindy), Heather, step-children Bill (Angie), Larry (Kelly), Don, Cheryl, sisters Barb and Sharon, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces,nephews, and his little dog Taffy who was by his side at all times and Dad loved him with all his heart. He will be missed by good friends Rose, John and Ann Barnes, Hal Ward, all his friends at Rack and Roll and all who knew and loved him. Resting at the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE where services will be held on Wednesday January 13th at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until time of service.
