At Meadowview Villa in Petrolia on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, JOHN (JACK) ROBERT McFADYEN, age 87, passed away. He was the loving husband for 64 years of June Aileen (Venton) McFadyen (2012) and dear father of George and his wife, Anne, and John and his wife, Janine, grandfather of Sarah Hill (Graham), Kay Roberts (Trevor) and Brock McFadyen and great-grandfather of Meghan Roberts. He was predeceased by his parents, George Henry and Isabelle May (Campbell) McFadyen and his brother, Gilbert (1943 RCAF). A lifetime resident of Sarnia, Jack pursed a business career which started by owning a White Rose service station. At the age of 28, he became the youngest Lincoln Mercury dealer in Canada. He later followed his interest in real estate, becoming a broker and owner of J.R. McFadyen Real Estate, as well as earning the designation of Fellow of the Real Estate Institute. In his leisure time, Jack enjoyed the friends that he made through sailing at the Sarnia Yacht Club and carving with the Triple C Carvers. Jack's family would like to thank Dr. Sharma, Dr. Glen Maddison, Dr. Monique Dostaler and the staff of the Bluewater Health Palliative and Chronic Care Units. The family is also most appreciative for the care and compassion shown by Dr. Mather and staff of the third floor of Lambton Meadowview Villa. A family graveside service was held at Lakeview Cemetery on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be sent to the St. Joseph's Hospice.
