Foster, John Alexander-
With family by his side, Sargent Major John Foster, of Sarnia Ontario, passed away peacefully at Afton Park Place on February 14, 2017. Devoted husband, for 72 years, of Marion Foster (nee Jones). Loving father of Jerrie (Robert) Ployart of Sarnia and Carol (John) Bittman of Dundas. Proud Grandpa to Taryn (Cheryl) Ployart, Ryan (Krissann) Ployart and Kyle (Leigh Ann) Bittman, Gregory (Kimberly) Bittman and Daniel (Michele) Bittman. Adored Great Grandpa of Travis Talbot, Ethan and Jacob Ployart, Ava Ployart, and Everly Bittman. Dear brother of Patricia Foster of Oshawa. Sadly missed by extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Majorie Foster (nee Alexander) and John Foster. John was born in Amherstburg, Ontario on January 19, 1923. He was a Second World War Veteran. John enlisted in the army at age 16 and served in Italy and other European Countries. After the War he served in the reserve army in Sarnia. He also worked at Holmes Foundary, Domtar and Catalytic Enterprises. He was a longtime member of the 1st Hussars, Royal Legion Branch 62 (Sarnia), Point Edward Ex-Serviceman’s Association and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (Sarnia). Cremation has taken place. Celebration of John’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 (286 Front St. N, Sarnia) on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Many thanks to the staff of Afton Park Place for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 Poppy Fund, Afton Park Place (Life Enrichment) Program or a Charity of your choice.
