JOHN SAMUEL EVANS, age 98 passed away at Watford Quality Care on Sunday, May 24, 2015. He was the loving husband of Verna Mae (Johnston) Evans and dear father of Samuel (Carol), Derwyn (Lee) and Hugh (Susan), grandfather of Tom, Owen, Amy, Patrick, Alexa, Warren, Hilary and Victoria and great-grandfather of six. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his first wife Edith (Grant) Evans, sisters Mary and Mabel, brothers Joseph, Horace, Edward (Ted) and Clarence. John sailed for over 22 years and served with the Merchant Marine in the north and south Atlantic during WWII. He lived in Lambton County for over 90 years and retired from Polysar after 27 years of service. John was a long time member of St. John's Anglican Church in Sarnia, a founding member of the Sarnia Rock and Fossil Club and a member of the Lambton Historical Society. At John's request his remains were donated to medical science. A Celebration of John's Life will be held At All Saints Anglican Church (248 Vidal St N, Sarnia, ON.) on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 am. Friends may gather for visitation at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
