John "Jock" Cunningham

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John é¢a‚A"Jocké¢a‚ Esdaile Cunningham, age 87 years, of Sarnia, Ontario and Rothesay, Isle of Bute, Scotland. Jock passed away peacefully at The Royal Alexander Hospital in Paisley, Scotland on March 10, 2010. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Jean (Dickson). He was a very proud father of Nancy & Earl Routly (Qualicum Beach, BC), Linda Cunningham (Calgary, AB), Ross & Vashti Cunningham (Edmonton, AB) and Doug & Chris Cunningham (Sarnia). His much loved grandchildren, Casey, Erin, Graeme, Andrew, Alex, Kate & Caroline. Dear brother of Winifred & her husband Dave Hope and Ronald & his wife Dodie Cunningham of Sarnia, along with several nieces and nephews. Jock was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (1982) and Lucy Tyrie (1995), his brother Eric & his wife Betty Cunningham and his son John Cunningham (2007). Jock was cremated in Greenock, Scotland, followed by a celebration of life, with a touch of Tartan, at Rothesay Castle, Isle of Bute, Scotland on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. It was attended by Jock's é¢a‚A"Scottishé¢a‚ family, and his daughter Nancy and son Doug. Fittingly, his ashes were parted, and interred at the family lair in Croc-an-Raer Cemetery on the Isle of Bute. He will be sadly missed by his many friends in both Canada and Scotland. é¢a‚A"If there is another world, he lives in bliss, if not, he made the most of thisé¢a‚ Robert Burns A further celebration of Jock's life and interment will be held at a later date in Sarnia. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted to the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE.
