John Roy Cox
February 13, 1943 – June 4, 2022
With broken hearts we announce the passing of John Roy Cox on Saturday June 4th, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospice (London, ON) with his family by his side. John was the much-loved husband and best friend of Diane for 59 years, and loving dad to Julie and Dave Dolbear, Cheryl Rivait, and Trish and Ken O’Neil. He was a wonderful grandfather to Jake (Yazmine) and Rachel Dolbear, Olivia, Megan, and Katie Rivait, and Noah, Mya, and Drew O’Neil. John is also survived and will be fondly remembered by siblings, Nancy and Tim Gray, Carol Russell, and Jim and Marsha Cox, as well as in-laws Jan and Al Cadieux, and Ron and Diane Steinman, along with several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his son Douglas, grandson Sam O’Neil, parents Roy and Aileen Cox, in-laws Dorothy and Delmar Steinman, siblings Peter and David Cox, brother-in-law Bill Russell and son in-law Ron Rivait.
John retired from the petro-chemical industry after a notable and long-standing career. He spent his retired years fishing, biking, and watching and supporting his grandchildren in their many endeavours. Over the past year he could be found biking down the river trail and all over Corunna. Ever the handy man he was always willing to share his knowledge and efforts to help repair, replace or create something new; from leaky faucets to big beautiful decks.
A private family service will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to St Joseph’s Hospice in London www.sjhospicelondon.comThe family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the LHSC University CCU staff as well as Dr. Faulds and the wonderful staff and volunteers at St Joseph’s Hospice in London.
