GALLAWAY, IRENE - Near the end of her 97th year Irene Gallaway (nee Leaver) of Point Edward passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia. Born in Barking, England on May 30, 1918 the youngest of five children of Oscar and Edith Leaver, they immigrated arriving in Sarnia in 1920 and moved to Point Edward in 1922 where Rene lived for 93 years, 66 with her husband Orlie who died in 2007. She is survived by her daughters Ann McGaw of South Bruce and Linda James (Harvey) of Camlachie and sons Roger (Jane) and Jim (Brenda) both of Point Edward, as well as two granddaughters Liz Whitehead of King City and Sarah Kennedy of Kitchener and grandsons Steven James of Ottawa, Warren James of Kingston, Mike McGaw of Nelson, BC., and her Gallaway grandsons Dave of Ottawa, Paul of Waterloo, Eric of Kingston and Jamie, Terry and Mike all of Sarnia. There are 13 great-grandchildren. She was the aunt of Sally Nienhuis, Nancy Leaver, Lynne Metcalfe, Peter, John and Richard Leaver. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters in law: Dick and Rene, Sid and Louise, Ted and Betty and Fred and Marguerite Leaver all of Point Edward as well as friends Prudy Barr of Miami, Florida and Donalda and Don Walker of Point Edward. Cremation has taken place. A family visitation time will take place on Friday, May 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. at the Brand Hall (attached to St. Paul's Church, 210 Michigan Ave., Pt. Edward). A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am. at St. Paul's Anglican Church on Saturday, May 16th followed by lunch at the Village Community Centre (attached to the Pt. Edward Arena) at noon. Private interment of ashes will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial gifts to the Canadian Diabetes Association are appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the D.J.
