Ilean Pelkie

PINEO PELKIE, Marion Eileen (Ilean) (nee Lapiere), died peacefully in her sleep on January 1, 2010. Ilean was born on May 31st, 1924 in Corunna, Ontario. She grew up on the family farm, the second of eleven children and is survived by three of her sisters, Marie Benedict of Corunna, Fran LaPiere and Hazel Ward both of Sarnia. After attending a one-room school house for her education, Ilean married James Pineo in 1944. They had five children: Bert Pineo (Kathy), Beverley Lambley (Steve), Larry Pineo (Shanny), Diane Daly (John) and Brenda McMahon (Bob). Ilean hosted Sunday dinners for all her kids, and often their friends and extended family. These dinners were important to her as she valued having her family around the table together. After the death of James, Ilean was lucky enough to find love again with Thomas Pelkie who she married in 1966. They enjoyed traveling across Canada together and were active bowlers. Tom and Ilean were together until he passed away in 1994. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. é¢a‚A"Nanaé¢a‚ was generous with her grandkids, making them clothing and letting them play in the pantry. In her later years Ilean still loved to party and travel, with her most recent trip taking her to Cuba with Diane and John. She loved the company of her family, often taking day trips with her sisters to enjoy shopping and eating in different restaurants. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Wednesday, January 6 th. at 1:30 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until time of service. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or R. C. Legion Br. # 18, Wallaceburg (cheques only please).
