Hendricus (Hank) Verberg (May 26, 1935 – October 29, 2019) - Hank passed away peacefully with his wife Valerie (Panik) Verberg at his side. He was born in Katwijk, Holland to Elizabeth van Leeuwen and Govert Verberg. He was predeceased by his siblings Jaap, Fer, Johan, and Annie, and is survived by Alice, Bep, Ceciel, Wim, and Godfrey. He is survived by his first wife, Mary Anne (Evoy) Englehart and their children: Catherine Verberg (Michael Hanson), Norine Verberg (Yvon Grenier), Lloyd Verberg (Liana MacDougall), Paula Froelich and Joyce Verberg Buchan (Mike Buchan), and his grandchildren (Devon and Peter Hanson; Francis, Eric, and Leo Grenier; William Verberg; Charis, Moriah and David Froelich, Alena Baudoux and Hannah, Cameron and Gillian Verberg Buchan) and great grandchildren (Emma Plain, Chloe, Dante, and Farrell Braithwaite). Hank is predeceased by his second wife, Isabel Gross, his stepdaughter Mary Gross, and grandson Robbie Grant. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Jen Houle (Cole) and Anne Clements (Bruce), and his step-grandchildren Amanda Grant, Erin Clements, and Sam Gross. Hank loved his job as a carpenter and the relations he forged with coworkers. He was a “lifetime” member of Local 1256 Carpenters and Joiners in Sarnia, working for over 50 years. Hank enjoyed sailing, walking, dancing, playing cards and board games and snowbirding in Florida. Hank’s family express gratitude to the staff at Trillium Villa for the care and support offered. . A funeral commemorating Hank’s life will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 1:00 pm from the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St, Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9). Family and friends are welcomed to visit prior to the services beginning at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations made in memory of Hank to Habitat for Humanity or Bluewater Health Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
