Helen "Bunnie" McCartney

McCARTNEY, HELEN BEATRICE R.N. (nee SEELEY) - Helen B., age 87, known by her many friends as é¢a‚A"Bunnieé¢a‚, passed away peacefully at Vision Nursing Home on August 17, 2011, with her family by her side. Bunnie will be sadly missed by John her husband for more than 65 years. Predeceased by a daughter Peggy in 1979, she is survived by a daughter Patricia Kohn (Erl) of Sarnia and a son David (Beth) of Vancouver. Bunnie was born in Salmon River, N.B., the second youngest of seven children whose parents were the late Warren D. And Grace Seeley (Hickey). Bunnie received her early education in St. Martins, N.B. and after high school graduation in 1943, enrolled in the Saint John, N.B. General Hospital School of Nursing and in 1946 she graduated as a Registered Nurse. A resident of Sarnia since 1950 and a member of Central United Church since 1956, she took part in several of the church activities including Meals on Wheels. Bunnie was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Sarnia and Area Children's Aid Society followed by a term on the Board of the Ontario Children's Aid Society. She was a long time member of the I.O.D.E. Pro Patria Chapter and a former Regent. Predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Bunnie is survived by three sisters, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Saturday, August 20th at 11:00 am with The Reverend Dr. Mary Anne MacFarlane officiating. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Central United Church Building Fund or Vision Nursing Home (cheques only please).
