Grace Ellen Folan

January 25, 1943 — December 25, 2016

FOLAN, GRACE - It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our amazing Grace.  Grace Folan (Pyette) was born January 25, 1943 in Sarnia.  She spent many years of her life in Point Edward with her parents Charles and Elsie Pyette (Hambleton) and her beloved siblings Tommy, Sally, Marylou, Jeanette, Teddy, Kathie and Joella.  Grace left school at an early age to join the workforce and was a familiar face to the patrons of many local businesses including: The Cromwell Grill, The Bunsen Burner, The Olympic Flame, Tabs (on roller skates), Macs (Finch and Wellington) and Giant Tiger.  Grace was previously married to Paul Savage of Wallaceburg and together they had a daughter Sally Anne Wilson (Aaron) and a son Charles Nigel Savage (Brooke Smith).  Grace was a supportive and honest Mom.  She spent many hours cheering Charlie on as he participated in multiple sports and shared her love of crime shows, movies and award shows with Sally.  Grace was blessed to be “Granny” to Tate Dobbing, Morgan and Maxwell Wilson and Charlie and Cooper Kyte.  She completely devoted her life to them and will be remembered for trips to the junk store, homemade french fries, sleepovers and lots of treats.  In 1999 Grace married Mark Folan after dating for several years.  She was a stepmother to Anthony (Donna), Gary (Susan) and Martine Vanderheide (Tim) as well as granny to 14 more grandchildren.  They spent 25 years together taking care of each other and making their home and gardens a beautiful retreat.  Grace is predeceased by her parents, brothers Tommy and Teddy, her sister Jeanette and brothers in law Les Newman, Pete Morreau, Rick Mills and Bill Nickels.  She is survived by her sisters in law Evey and Rochelle Pyette and brothers in law Mark Nickels and John Romlewski, numerous nieces and nephews who always competed to be her favourite.  Grace was always ready to share a drink of Baileys and a dance at family events.  Grace leaves behind multiple friends and neighbours and past co-workers that have been an incredible support to her and her family during her illness.  We wish to thank Dr. Maddison and various agencies for supporting Grace in her goal of a peaceful death. Special thank you to her sister Joella who accompanied Grace and her daughter to all of her appointments. Private cremation arrangements are being held.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Joseph’s Hospice.   Arrangements are entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Memories and messages of condolence may be sent through www.djrobb.on.ca
