HADDON, GORDON FREDERICK

February 9, 1925 – July 19, 2016

It is with sad hearts that the family announces the passing of Gordon Haddon at Bluewater Health at the age of 91 years. Gordon lived a long and active life and was fortunate to have been able to live in his own home independently.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and always looked forward to his daily outings with his special, long time friend Duddy Barr. Gordon was born, raised and lived his entire life in Sarnia. He retired from the Sarnia Hydro (Bluewater Power) as a 1st  class linesman and always looked forward to the annual Christmas Party where all the retirees were always welcome. Gordon played in many sports including the Pt. Edward Beavers Lacrosse team and bowled in many bowling leagues throughout the years. He was also a veteran and served overseas in WWII.  He met his beautiful bride Doreen Newton at Camp Borden and they married in 1947. Gordon is survived by his daughter Deborah (Haddon) Young (Dean), his grandchildren Jennah Young (Scott) and Cole Young (Lara), his seven beautiful great granddaughters Keirah, Ainsley, Leah, Alexandra, Everly and Chloe and Lyla.  Also, Gordon is survived by his sisters Marion Curran (and the late Chuck), Helen Forbes (Glenn), Kathy Graham (Bill), his brothers Eric Haddon (Joann) and Lloyd Haddon (Shelley), sister-in-law Marg Chalmers, brother-in-law Bill Spence and also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Doreen (Newton) Haddon (2001), his parents Reg and Kate Haddon, his brothers Ollie Haddon, Edgar Haddon (and the late Phyllis) and his sisters Margaret Spence and Grace Coulter (and the late Bud), niece Nancy Haddon and nephew Ken Coulter.  Thank you to the caring Doctors and Nurses at BWH Medical Telemetry and Palliative Care Units and Dr. Dhar, Dr. Greensmith and Dr. Crombeen for their support and kindness.  Also thank you to long time family physician Dr. Rex Garrett who always took the time to see Gord.  Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE (102 Victoria St. N.) on Friday, July 22nd at 2:00 pm.  Interment to  follow in Lakeview Cemetery.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm.   In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the charity of your choice.  Memories and messages of condolence may be sent through djrobb.on.ca
