Gerry Baars

BAARS, GERRY, At Bluewater Health Centre on Sunday, November 13th, 2011, Gerry Baars, age 88 of Sarnia passed away. He was the loving husband of the late Anne (Venema) Baars and dear father of Johanna Lumley, Wilma Whitsitt and husband Russell, Arie Baars and Jan, Ronald Baars and wife Janet, Allen Baars and wife Helen and Shirley Baars. Grandfather of 11 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 22 great-grandchildren. His family resides in Ontario, Sakatchwan, New York, Alberta and Idaho. He is also survived by 4 brothers and 1 sister and their spouses and 1 sister in law in the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his son Steven Gerald Baars and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Gerry, his wife Anne and their three oldest children immigrated from the Netherlands in 1953. He retired from Polysar after many years of service. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church on Friday, November 18th at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Prayers will be offered at 8:30 pm. Memorial gifts to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Hearing Society would be appreciated by the family.
