Gerald Frederick Dayman

In loving Memory of Gerald (Gerry) Frederick Dayman who peacefully passed away Sunday, February 6^th, 2022 at Fiddick’s Nursing Home in Petrolia at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda June (Hardwick) Dayman (2015). He was the proud father of Cynthia Ann (Dayman) Harris and grandfather of Scott Wesley Harris. Gerald is also survived by his brothers Verne Dayman, Lyle and his wife Joyce (Hall) Dayman in addition to many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Susie (Dayman) Kilbreath (2017), brother in law Fred Kilbreath (2010), sister in laws Betty (Carswell) Dayman (1984) and Marilyn (Keenan) Dayman (2016) as well as his parents Wesley Wilfred Dayman (1973) and Mary Jane (Lovie) Dayman (1976). Gerry worked for 35 years as a Process Operator and Foreman for Polymer/Polysar in Sarnia from 1949 until his retirement in 1984 and was a longtime member of Paterson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Gerry was a devoted husband who married his childhood sweetheart and a loving Father to his Daughter and a loving Grandfather to his Grandson. He shared an interest in photography where he worked in his Sister’s Photo Studio before he worked for Polymer/Polysar. While there he took pictures of the early days of the Sarnia General Hospital and won a photography competition in Toronto for his photo submission. Gerry spent many summer seasons in his backyard garden growing many delicious fruits and vegetables which he always shared with his family and friends. In retirement Gerry enjoyed sharing stories of his life growing up in Sarnia with his parents, sister, brothers and their dog Boots. Wintering in Florida Gerry pursued the game of bocce ball and golf (he also enjoyed playing golf at home weather permitting) with friends and family and always took the time to appreciate nature. He shared a love for wood working and fixing things. Often restoring furniture or reminiscing about times spent building his house with his dad, brothers and family. At the end of a long day Gerry could be found sometimes taking a little rest in his favorite green recliner buried in the paper, reading a book or enjoying some classical records. Reunited with his loved ones in heaven, he will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held at at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home, Thursday, February 10th at 2:00 pm followed by interment.
