At his home in Sarnia with family and his partner of 28 years, Bonita Gray by his side with the Leaf’s game on the television, George passed on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in his 84th year.
Originally from Toronto, George moved his family to Sarnia in 1971 when he was transferred with Grinnell. He had begun a long career in the pipe valve and fitting business since his teens. Over the years he worked at ITT Grinnell, Bannister Industrial, and lastly Lambton Alloys before retiring in 2017. It is through this he met many and formed long-standing friendships including that of his best buddy Bob Gordon. In his younger days, you would find him at the local bowling alley where he played competitively, out on the course swinging his clubs, in front of the stage on Friday nights with his grandkids at Robbie B’s, Time Out for date night with Bonnie, the local Bingo Hall or Piccadilly’s telling a good story.
He will be sorely missed and survived by partner and long-time companion, Bonita Gray and fur baby Meeka. His children: Scott Ruston, Kim Ruston, Tammy Lewis (Jeff). Stepchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Thompson, Cameron (Theresa) Gray, Jessica Gray. Grand-children: Tara (Justin) Carson, Shannel (Aaron) Purdy, Britney (Brandon) Wilkins, Paige Ruston, Natasha (Dave) Brown, Kendra (Tishawn) Chappelle, Darian (Rebecca) Chappelle, Kyle (Samantha) and Jeffery (Sofia) Rivnie. Great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Autumn, Cohen, Theodore Purdy, Brooklynn and Sadie Carson, Blayze, Arianna Rivnie, Journey Chappelle, Neviah McKenzie, Henry and Rhys Brown. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Marilyn (1993), parents Norman and Elizabeth Ruston along with his brothers Kenny, Eddy, Jim, and sisters Sally, Winifred and Doris
While there are no more beers to be shared, jokes to be told or “I love you more’s” to be heard, may his memory bring a smile to your face, or a little chuckle break as you tell one of his jokes or one-liners he so effortlessly delivered.
