Peacefully, at Bluewater Health with family by his side, Frank Derry passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the age of 90. Predeceased by his wife, Florence Mildred (nee Anderson) Derry (2006) and by his daughter, Mary Lou Curran (2021) and his grandson, Dylan Cruickshank (2018). Much loved father of Michael (Jo-Anne) of Camlachie, Mark (Suzanne) of Whitefish, Maureen (Alistair) of Brigden, Kathleen (Jacques) of Point Edward, Marjorie (Glenn) of Kincardine and Patricia (Ron) of Kitchener. Loving grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Frank was born in Toronto on December 23, 1931. He was raised on a farm in Scarborough Township. He attended Agincourt High School and was the valedictorian and only boy to graduate grade 13. He worked for the Western Insurance Company in Toronto for several years, and moved from Agincourt to Sarnia with his growing family in 1959. He continued as an insurance broker, travelling across Southern Ontario, until he joined the firm of J. W. Rollins Insurance, eventually becoming a partner in the firm until he retired. Frank was very involved with the 403 Royal Canadian Air Force Club. He held many positions, including President, entertained the Snow Birds, attended many conferences across North America and was responsible for many Wing held events. He spent his Thursdays golfing at Herbie Crabbs, raising money for the local Air Cadets. He was an avid coach for SMAA boys’ hockey and softball leagues. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment is scheduled for a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home and Cremation Centre Ltd. (102 Victoria Street North, Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9) on Friday, July 8, 2022. Visitation to take place from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service. An Irish Wake will be held at the Point Edward Ex-Serviceman’s Club, (503 Michigan Ave., Point Edward, ON,) from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank can be made to the Sarnia Humane Society.
