Eugene Joseph Marton

Eugene passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 70. Predeceased by his parents Mary (1985) and Paul (2012), Brothers Paul (2018), and George (2006), Sister Elizabeth (1956) and brother-in-law John (2020). Eugene is survived by his sisters Helen and Mary, brother-in -law Fred, nieces Loretta, Jackie and Sabrina, nephews John-Paul, Doug and Tim. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews and beloved family friend Mary Viragh. Eugene was born in Papa, Hungary in 1952. He fled Hungary with his family at the age of 4 and they immigrated to Windsor Ontario.  Eugene and with his brother Paul (2012) successfully carried on the family upholstery business that their father had started and operated for many years. When Eugene and Paul retired they made the move to Sarnia where the rest of the family was living. Eugene was able to enjoy many visits with all of the family. Eugene was often referred to by the children of the family as the favourite Uncle. It was a title that always put a smile of his face and made him squeeze everyone a little harder when he hugged them. Eugene loved all things outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and in his youth his motorcycle, and he also enjoyed martial arts for many years. The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Sumac Lodge and Dr. Chilvers for the loving care and compassion shown to Eugene throughout his time at Sumac Lodge. Cremation has taken place. Family and Friends are invited to the home of Helen Brown (727 Cathcart Blvd. Sarnia, ON) on Saturday, July 8, 2023 between 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.  for a Celebration of  Eugene’s life.
