Else was a woman of substance and enjoyed life to the fullest until her health deteriorated in 2012.. She leaves to mourn, her loving son Brian (Audrey Stringer), grandson Jahn, granddaughter Brittany, sisters Hilda Cech and Alwine Michaelis and families in Germany. Predeceased by her husband Jan (1981) and sister Olga (2013). She moved to Canada in 1954, married her husband Jan in 1956 in Windsor, Ont. She gave birth to her only child Brian in 1958. Else was a survivor and had a strong work ethic. She worked the tobacco fields, Sarnia General Hospital Dietary Deptartment and Kresges on Front St Sarnia, before going into the restaurant business. She and her husband owned several restaurants in Lambton County and were the original owner of the Bridge Tavern in Point Edward. Else was well known for her butter tarts, bread buns and potato pancakes. She enjoyed many years at her cottage in Port Franks and made many memories with her grandchildren. She always said you had your working - years and then your playing - years and she did both to the fullest. She traveled extensively and her favorite trips were to the Northwest Territories and the Rio Grande. At age 53 she got her driver's license and bought a truck. She enjoyed reading novels and biographies and her favorite singer was Sarah Brightman. She loved her vegetable and flower gardens and knitting became a passion in 2012. Else was a woman of courage, strength, determination, opinionated, fearless, generous and kind. Due to ill health in December 2012 she made the decision to move from her family home to an apartment -Marquis East on Exmouth St. until January 19, 2014 when she was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospice. Private family service has taken place and a public celebration of Else's life will be announced at a later date.
