BREITMAN, LEO. B.Sc., Ph.D., F.C.I.C. - On Thursday evening, October 1, 2009 at Bluewater Health, Mitton Street, Sarnia. Survived by Hazel, his wife of 60 years, and by his sons Mitchell (Renee), Daniel (Jane), daughter-in-law Jo Ann (Alan) and four grandaughters : Stephanie, Alison, Lauren and Caroline. Predeceased by his son Martin. Leo was born on November 18, 1926 in Montreal and was educated at Baron Byng High School and McGill University, where he earned his doctorate in physical chemistry. Hazel and Leo spent two years in Ottawa where he had a fellowship at the National Research Council before coming to Sarnia. He enjoyed a varied career of more than 30 years with Polysar. Leo was an accomplished pianist and an avid bridge player. He enjoyed foraging for wild asparagus and raspberries in Canaterra Park. Cremation has taken place. As per his wishes, there will be no service, but the family will receive friends at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club on Tuesday, October 6 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Dr. Martin Breitman Research Fund, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario M5G 1X5 (416-586-8203 X3936) or (hlaws@mtsinai.on.ca) would be appreciated.
