Dorothy Delviena Carter

CARTER, DOROTHY - On Tuesday August 6, 2019, Dorothy Delviena (Shaw) Carter, age 98 of Barrie, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. She was the loving wife of the late Hugh J. Carter (1977) and dear mother of Elaine Shoemaker, grandmother of Paul Shoemaker (Elaine), great grandmother of David Shoemaker and Megan Calvert and great-great-grandmother of Olivia and Chantale Calvert. She is also survived by nieces Norma Ellacott and Cathy Doyle (Peter), Vanda Carter and nephews Bob Churchill (Rose), John Churchill, Paul Williams (Ginny), Bill Carter (Johanna) and Bob Carter (Shawna) and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by father Joel Shaw, mother Mae Shaw, stepmother Emma Shaw, daughter Marion and son Jimmy, her sisters Rita Ashton, Velma Churchill, Noreen Williams and sister-in-law Phyllis Carter, her brothers-in-law Jack Churchill, Ross Williams and Jack Carter and her nephews Lennie Ashton and Larry Williams and her son-in-law Norm Shoemaker. Dorothy was born in Kimball and was an area resident most of her life. She was a member of the Community Church of Christ since her childhood and worked in the kitchen for many years at Crabbie's Golf Course. She had lived with her daughter Elaine in Barrie for the past four years. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 12th at 11:00 am until the service begins at 12:00 noon at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St. Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9). Interment will be held after at 3:00 pm. at Bear Creek Cemetery in Brigden.
