David "Smitty" Douglas Smith

SMITH, DAVID (Smitty) DOUGLAS – David’s sudden and untimely death at his residence on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, has shocked many. The beloved son of Dave and Kathy Smith was in his fortieth year, they feel pain no parent should have to endure.

He is survived by his beautiful daughter Alexis Mae Smith, who was David’s world. He was the middle child of three, leaving behind his older sister Shawna and little sister Somer. David was one of many cherished grandchildren to Helen Smith and loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be remembered by his niece and nephews; Taylor, Tanner, Cameron and Teagan. David is pre-deceased by his grandparents; Norma and Dick Powell and Jack Smith.

Over David’s forty years he made many friends and was  well liked  by all. Although his life was short lived he has left his imprint on so many. David loved to play in his Monday night pool league with his many friends.

He will always be loved and never forgotten.

Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will take place. A public period of visitation will be held at the D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 Victoria Street, North, Sarnia, ON N7T 5W9) on Thursday, November 26, 2020 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 o’clock noon. Charitable donations in memory of David may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Society are appreciated.

The funeral home has the capacity to allow no more than 50 guests at any one time including in the parking areas.  Once guests leave the funeral home they are not allowed to re-enter the building, also there will be no gathering of guests in the parking lot – this will allow more guests to pay their last respects and maintain everyone’s health and safety.

Due to the current Covid-19 Crisis and the current restrictions placed on funeral homes, Social Distancing and wearing of masks is mandatory and attendance limits will also be enforced. Also, those in attendance must provide their contact information for Covid tracing purposes.
