It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of David “Neil” Armstrong, age 87 of Sarnia. He left peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Marshall Gowland Manor. Neil was the loving husband of his late wife of 53 years Margaret Louise (Scott) Armstrong (2012) and will be greatly missed by his daughter Lezleigh Amodeo and husband Lucio, his son Doug Armstrong wife Kelly, grandchildren; Vincenzo (Katrina), Blake, Nicolas, Kayla, Matthew and MacKenzie. Many nieces and nephews also survive with a special thanks to Margo and Steve Riches. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Ann, his sister Vita Schantz (Sam). Neil was a longtime NHL employee working as a Linesman from 1957 to 1979. After retirement he scouted for the Montreal Canadians for over 20 seasons. Neil was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991. He was also a longtime standing member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. He served as the Head Pro at Sarnia Golf Club and Huron Oaks during the off season from the NHL. Due to the current Covid-19 crisis and the current restrictions placed on funeral homes a celebration of Neil’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
