McGARRY, DAVID – At St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, David George McGarry, age 75 of Sarnia passed away. He was the beloved husband of Kilby May (Crowder) McGarry and dear brother of Brian McGarry and Mary Ellen Schwerdfeger (Barry). He is also survived by his brother in law Richard Crowder. He was loved and will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. David was born October 31st, 1940 to the late Lyla (Cross) and William McGarry in Wakefield, Quebec. David worked for Ontario Hydro in the Ottawa area, then Sarnia. Along with partners he started and ran Elecsar Engineering in Sarnia and Toronto until his retirement in 2012. The business was also a past recipient of the Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Business Achievement Award. He was a member and Past-President of the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce as well as a member of the Provincial Executive. He was a retired Electrical Engineering Technologist and a longtime Sarnia resident. David and Kilby enjoyed trips on the Great Lakes and summers living aboard their trawler. Sympathy expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Joseph’s Hospice or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. A celebration of David’s life will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery and Reception Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) on Saturday, August 20th between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
